The Splendiferous Harry Potter Christmas! (Part 4: The conclusion of the crazy details)

The rest of the crafting details…

 Snitches

  • The snitches are Lindor chocolate and caramel truffles and I used this printable for the wings….

Dragon egg

  • I originally made this dragon egg for my Harry Potter party but decided to re-purpose it for my niece.
  • I purchased a paper mache egg at a craft store and painted it with multiple layers and various metallic paints.
  • For its upgrade I loosely followed this tutorial from “On my Side of the Room”, adding hot glue dragon scales and gold highlights.

Mirror

  • I’m super excited about this one! I found this tutorial on YouTube from Dani Rubim. The tutorial is in spanish but it is easy to follow along even without translating.
  • I adjusted it slightly by using foam board from the general shape rather than paper since I had some left over from another craft project.
  • I also wanted the mirror to be able to stand up so I cut out a slot in the back to allow the frame stand to work properly.
  • I use a super cheap frame found at a thrift store. I couldn’t find a small, simple, and cheap mirror so I purchased adhesive Tim Holtz mirrored sheets  and just applied one to the empty frame, removing the glass pane as well so that there was room.

Unicorn slime

  • A late addition to the gift was this colorful unicorn slime. I used a small glass container I found at a craft store and this recipe from MyFrugalAdventures to craft the rainbow concoction.
  • The bottle label was found on on Miyu-Maneki’s Deviant Art page here.
  • I’ve been hearing more and more about how glitter needs to be the next thing that is banned, after microbeads, because they get into the water, don’t biodegrade, and can be consumed by wildlife. Therefore I took this opportunity to forgo the glitter glue that would have made it super shiny and decided to make a more environmentally friendly choice- hopefully the earth thanks me 🙂

Fluffy

Sorcerer’s Stone

  • Ah, the piece d’ resistance!  I found this beauty on Etsy from the seller LegendaryLetters and knew it HAD to be included.
  • The gorgeous red resin stone, highlighted with rough sand, comes with a replica of the envelope Dumbledore sends with Hagrid for the Goblins at Gringots.
  • I would have died for something like this when I was a kid- I always loved faux jewels.

Well that’s it, all of the crazy details of my niece’s Harry Potter Christmas Extravaganza! Thanks for checking it out!
